Specific Work Context As mentioned, the greatest and most immediate opportunity for Equatorial Guinea to advance the maritime economy is to leverage its ports and port facilities.  At present, Equatorial Guinea moves fewer containers per year than some of the nearby ports like Douala, Cameroon move per month.  Yet Equatorial Guinea has several features that could make it competitive with all the other ports of the region. In relation to space, Douala, Lagos, and other major ports of the region are saturated and have run out of space. On the other end Equatorial Guinea’s ports have immense space. This opens opportunities for both transshipment and storage, as well as an expansion of services including ship repair. In addition, contrary to most African ports that face a critical limitation in that their waters depth that is only about 12 meters deep, the waters in the port of Bata and Malabo are respectively 14.5 meters and 16 meters deep. Contexte organisationnel La Guinée bénéficie depuis 2007 de l’appui du Fonds de Consolidation de la Paix des Nations Unies (PBF). Cet engagement a conduit à appuyer la dynamique préventive des conflits prônée par divers acteurs guinéens. En février 2011, la Guinée a été inscrite à l’agenda de la Commission de Consolidation de la Paix sur la base de trois domaines prioritaires identifier par le Gouvernement guinéen. A ce titre le pays a formulé deux Plan Prioritaire de Consolidation de la Paix financés par le Fonds de Consolidation de la Paix des Nations Unies (PBF). Suite aux recommandations du rapport du troisième examen de la Déclaration d’Engagements mutuels (novembre 2016), et à la demande du Gouvernement Guinéen, il a été mis fin à la configuration Guinée de la Commission de Consolidation de la Paix (juillet 2017). Depuis cette date la Guinée bénéficie d’un appui flexible sous la forme de paquets de projets IRF (Immediate response facility). Au total la Guinée a bénéficié de plus de 74 millions de dollars de projets du Fonds de Consolidation de la Paix.
