PURPOSE The Health Care in Danger (HCiD) Officer is responsible for leading and coordinating activities relating to the protection of health care personnel, equipment and facilities in collaboration with relevant departments and the Head of Programmes and Prevention. S/he facilitates and ensures a multi-disciplinary approach to prevent or respond to armed conflict/violence-related threats and concerns affecting health care personnel, facilities or equipment, enabling the transversal impact of these activities. S/he proactively or on request identifies, develops and leads national-level campaigns or initiatives to strengthen the protection and respect of health care personnel, equipment, and provides technical support to similar field-level initiatives. S/he carries out analysis on developments relating to the protection and respect of health care personnel, facilities and equipment in South Sudan, and further designs relevant tools and training to build the capacity of ICRC staff on the protection of health care.
