Background For over 25 years, the IRC has been one of the largest providers of humanitarian assistance, delivering emergency relief and post-conflict assistance since 1989. Today, the IRC provides services for more than 900,000 people, delivering lifesaving care and life-changing assistance in 8 locations across four states in South Sudan. Nine years of South Sudan crisis have left the country in dire need. Since 2013, over 4.3 million people have been forced to find refuge wherever they can inside South Sudan and in neighboring countries, especially Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Sudan. Due to the crisis, vital infrastructure has been destroyed, leaving millions without essential social services. Schools have become makeshift shelters and health facilities and health workers have become targets.
