Background Over the last decade, the four countries around Lake Chad Basin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria have experienced unprecedented crises exacerbated by repeated incidences of violence from the Boko Haram terrorist group. In response to the situation, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), in partnership with African Union (AU) Commission with support from UNDP, developed the Regional Strategy for the Stabilization, Recovery & Resilience of the Boko Haram-affected Areas of the Lake Chad Basin (RSS). The RSS provides a comprehensive, integrated, and multilevel framework for overall stabilization through nine inter-related pillars, including military support to the MNJTF, humanitarian assistance, and critical interventions to secure early recovery and long-term resilience. UNDP has developed the Regional Stabilization Facility (RSF) for the Lake Chad Basin region in support of the RSS implementation. The RSF is set up with four national windows, one window for each of the countries affected by the crisis: Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria. Each region is managed by a regional team that oversees the region’s country programs, headed by a Regional Vice President (RVP) and Deputy Regional Director (DRD), and supported by a Regional Grants Director (RGD). Job Description IRC started operations in Chad in 2004 to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the influx of refugees from Darfur to eastern Chad, with intervention in the Ouré Cassoni refugee camp. Assistance to Sudanese refugees has now expanded to the management of the ten camps in the East and one camp in the West with assistance to refugees and local communities in health, nutrition and water, hygiene and sanitation.
