PNUD

Background In the context of COVID 19 pandemic, it is anticipated that the longer-term social and economic impact of this crisis will be profound. The International Monetary Fund expects a global recession more severe than the 2008 global?nancial crisis, with two-thirds of the economic dislocation from losses of business and consumer con?dence and tightened?nancial markets rather than the pandemic itself. But by building back better, this dislocation also provides an opportunity to shift our planetary trajectory towards the 2030 Agenda and a climate resilient future. UNDP is helping countries assess and understand the impacts of COVID-19. Our post-disaster needs assessments were developed in coordination with the European Union, the World Bank and the rest of the UN system, building on experience dating back to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, through the Ebola and Zika epidemics and many other crises and disasters around the world. UNDP is already working to understand the social, economic and political impacts of the crisis, and to?nd ways to mitigate them with sustainable, resilient and rights-based solutions crafted with the public and private sectors. This leverages our capacity on innovation, digital solutions, social protection systems, response to increased gender-based violence, emergency job...

UNICEF MAURITANIE

UNICEF Mauritania: Recrutement International Consultant Reporting Specialist (6 months) Purpose Of Activity/Assignment Country context Mauritania ranked 157th out of 189 nations in the 2020 Human Development Index. The impact collides with the global inflation that results from the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the volatile situation in Ukraine – all of which are leading to an unprecedented food insecurity and nutritional crisis. The Cadre Harmonisé (March 2022 session) estimates that 878,921 individuals and 36 departments will face crisis conditions (phase 3+) during the peak of the upcoming lean season (June-August 2022). Global acute malnutrition rates stand at 11.1 per cent and severe acute malnutrition at 1.9 per cent, with 39 per cent of health districts above emergency nutritional thresholds. According to on the last available SMART survey, the number of malnourished children was already expected to reach 135,254 in...
