BACKGROUND UNDP is the UN’s global development network advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 177 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. In Namibia, we support the Government of Namibia (GRN) and Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in identifying key challenges in meeting its Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by improving capacities at the national, regional, and local levels. To accelerate structural transformations for sustainable development, our programming priorities are 1) Sustainable, Inclusive and Green Growth, 2) Sustainable environmental management and increased resilience to shocks and crises, and 3) Improved governance for accountable, responsive institutions and civic engagement. UNDP’s “Inclusive Governance Initiative” (IGI) is designed to support six countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to become increasingly accountable to, and inclusive of, their entire populations, including LGBTI people. This in turn will contribute to better laws, more responsive public sector services, and social norms that affirm LGBTI rights.
