Private Sector and Civil Society Engagement Advisor

Background: USAID/Namibia views Private Sector Engagement (PSE) as a strategic approach to planning and programming that strengthens health services provision and the performance of the health system. It is anticipated that an increase in PSE will lead to greater scale, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of health services and outcomes. In light of the GRN’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage, the need for more extensive PSE in health to complement the public sector is particularly acute and relevant to address affordability, quality and access to care. Yet the private sector in Namibia, as in many countries, is not well-governed nor-coordinated, necessitating a focus on more effective engagement to harness the reach and capacity of private providers to support the attainment of the country’s health goals. Introduction: The Private Sector and Civil Society Engagement Advisor will work with the private sector to promote health sector market development, access to financing, value chain development, policy design and implementation for market openness, and best practices for institutional strengthening to transition to and promote market-based solutions for the full continuum of HIV services.
