The VAT Gap Analysis Expert duties and responsibilities will include: The expert will be responsible for the following: Reviewing existing VAT laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Analysing VAT collection processes, including registration, filing, payment, and refund mechanisms. Assessing the effectiveness of VAT enforcement measures and compliance monitoring activities. Identifying key risk areas and vulnerabilities contributing to VAT revenue leakage or non-compliance. Examining VAT administration systems, including IT infrastructure, data management, and reporting capabilities. Conducting interviews and consultations with relevant stakeholders, including tax authorities, government officials, taxpayers, and industry representatives. Benchmarking the VAT system against international best practices and standards. Quantifying the size of the VAT gap. Providing actionable recommendations and strategies to address identified gaps, enhance VAT compliance, and improve revenue outcomes.
