Financial Health & Business Development Training for Exiting Lead Firms of the SSBVC Project in Tanzania 1. Background The Strengthening Small Business Value Chains (SSBVC) project in Tanzania implemented by Mennonite Economic Development Associates’ meda is a 6 year project (2015-2021) funded by Global Affairs Canada aimed at accelerating the growth of Tanzania’s ‘Small, Growing Enterprise’ (SGB) and ‘Small Entrepreneur’ (SE) in the agri-food, logistics, manufacturing, construction, extractives, and financial services sectors in the Mtwara Corridor (Mtwara and Lindi Regions), Morogoro Corridor (Dar, Njombe, Mbeya, Songwe, Singida, Dodoma, Iringa, Morogoro, and Pwani Regions), Arusha Corridor (Arusha, Manyara, Kilimanjaro, and Tanga Regions). The project works with 25 Lead Firms, 225 SGBs, 2 Business Development Service Providers and over 10,000 small entrepreneurs, with a majority of them being female. MEDA believes that the impact of its SSBVC project in Tanzania must be sustainable beyond the life of the project.
