NRC has been present in CAR since 2014 and currently runs operations covering a large geographic area with activities spread across strategic districts throughout the territory such as Mambere Kadei, Sangha Mbayere and Nana Mambere in the West, Nana Gribizi, Kemo, and Ouaka in the Centre, Basse-Kotto in the southeast, and Lobaye and Ombella Mpoko in the SouthWest. NRC operates from three field offices in Berberati, Kaga Bandoro, and Alindao, and a country office in Bangui, the capital city. The program portfolio includes five core competencies: ICLA, Livelihoods and Food Security, WASH, Shelter, and Education, as well as Protection programs. NRC’s Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) programme seeks to ensure that beneficiaries have access to civil documentation, and housing, land and property (HLP) rights. The ICLA team intervenes through its own teams, implementing partners as well as HLP community mechanisms supported by NRC to conduct collaborative dispute resolution and support returnees in claiming restitution of housing or land lost/occupied.
