Position summary: The objective of the Senior Associate Child Labor West Africa is to lead and provide input into regional child labor strategies and implementation of programs and certification activities tackling child labor. Created in 2013, RCC supports UNFCCC secretariat and BOAD to implement activities related to Kyoto Protocol, Paris Agreement and sustainable development goals. In 2015, RCCs Lomé and Kampala assisted African countries in the elaboration of their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs)in the context of Paris Agreement. This Agreement entered into force in 2016 and INDC had become Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The Paris Agreement presents an opportunity for countries to meet their climate goals and keep the world’s global temperature below 1.50c. As it is the case for most developing countries, many African countries covered by RCC Lomé and Kampala region are considering how to implement their current and future Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in a bid to meet their near-term climate goals and achieve low-carbon growth.
